Built in 1922, the Thande is one of Bagan's bargains, with
rooms going for as little as US$30 for an economy room. The hotel
itself is perfectly situated at the south-west corner of Old Bagan
on the eastern bank of the Irrawaddy River. Rooms enjoy hi8gh
levels of com50 orso.fort, even in "economy class", with teakwood
furnishings, traditional fabrics, satellite TV, air-conditioner,
telephone and en-suite bathroom. Superior and deluxe rooms and
bungalows all feature mini bar, bathtub and great views. Add to
this a pleasant swimming pool, well-priced restaurant and bar,
massage facilities and lovely gardens, and its easy to see why the
Thande is one of the more popular addresses with visitors to Bagan.
