Out and About
Imperial Mausoleums
Explore the eight Imperial tombs located at intervals along the Perfume River. Take a boat trip for a day, but select your stops with care - the sights can prove tiring and also expensive - foreigners pay around ten times the local price for admission. We recommend the tombs of Ming Manh and Gia Long. A boat for a day should cost around US$12 including lunch for two.

Hue Citadel
The seat of power in old Vietnam, unfortuantely badly damaged (almost destroyed) during the Tet offensive of 1968 and the city's brief occupation by the Viet Cong. Some interesting buildings remain however, and a visit is worthwhile.

Thien Mu Pagoda
Much photographed seven-tiered pagoda on the river, a little out of town to the west. Included in the itinerary of most boat tours to the Imperial tombs.
