Phnom Penh is home to a wide range of day spas, holistic massage centres and hair and beauty salons, some of which are located in the classier hotels. However, an extensive selection of independent spas and salons has lately sprung up offering a wide choice of treatments ranging from simple massge to full body wraps, reflexology and other specialised disciplines. Hairdressers at the better hotels are of an international standard, and many of the smaller shop front salons are very professional and relatively cheap. Gents can get a seriously cheap haircut at any of the many shop-house barbershops, with prices often as low as a buck a cut (watch out for some of these places however, as they're often just a front for prostitution (see below). Ladies seeking cosmetics will be rewarded in Phnom Penh as the city boasts plenty of beauty shops catering to all tastes and pockets. Many major international brands are available in the many stores dotted around town, and you'll always be able to find what you're looking for in major supermarkets, pharmacies and shopping malls. Finally, a word of caution: Beware that many street-front barber shops and massage operations are little more than a front for less than salubrious sections of society - if it has the look and feel of a cheap Hong Kong night club then you're not going to get a particularly healthy treatment!
