Thailand's rogue cops say hello to "Hello Kitty" |
|
"Hello Kitty" - the Japanese animation character has found a new
job in the Thai police department. The cute round-faced cat will
now punish any officer in Bangkok who is late, parks in the wrong
place or commits other minor transgressions.
The bad cops breaking the rules will be made to wear the large,
bright pink Hello Kitty armband, which has two hearts embroidered
on it.
However, if the offense is more serious, traditional
disciplinary action would be taken. Since Hello Kitty is considered
an icon for young girls, it would be considered less manly if macho
police officers are seen with it. Invented by a Japanese company in
1974, the character has been popular for years with children and
young women.
