AirAsia plans direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Krabi |
AirAsia is preparing to serve direct flights between Kuala Lumpur
and one of Thailand’s most beautiful getaways - Krabi,
beginning 21 August 2007 with three Airbus flights weekly.
Promotional launch fares start from RM39.99 / THB429. Thai AirAsia
currently serves three daily flights to Krabi from Bangkok.
Relatively unspoilt, Krabi is nestled in the south of Thailand,
along the coast of Andaman Sea. One of the few undisturbed tropical
beach resorts, complete with trails of mountain adventures and
meandering river valleys, Krabi provides stunning panoramas for
photographers and activities such as rock climbing and diving for
visitors. The province of Krabi consists of 130 islands in the
Andaman Sea.
Kathleen Tan, Executive Vice President – Commercial, AirAsia,
said, “The trends in traveling have changed over the years
and with our everyday low fares, many can now afford to fly. One
noticeable trend is more and more people are taking short breaks as
opposed to taking one or two long vacations in a year. One can now
easily take a weekend getaway in Krabi to unwind, similar to Bali
and Phuket. With holiday destinations of choice often dictated by
airfare these days, we hope to continue opening new markets to
travel with our low fares and to raise the profile of Krabi as one
of the top international tourist destinations.”
For those who want more to enjoying the warm Andaman sea breeze and
chilling out on the beach, Krabi has plenty of activities to keep
them busy including rock climbing and jungle trekking in the
National Park located northwest of Krabi, scuba diving, snorkeling,
sea kayaking, and island hopping. Scuba diving in Krabi runs all
year round but the best diving conditions are from November to
April.
