In a report by the VietNamNet Bridge, a
Vietnam Inbound Tour Operator (VITO) club comprising ten of Ho Chi
Minh City’s international tour operators has been formed to
advance Vietnam’s tourism sector and rectify problems facing
the industry as a whole.
The group is made up of tour operators
such as Indochina Services Vietnam, Focus Asia, Asian Trails as
well as Phoenix Vietnam who all play an influential role in the
Vietnam’s inbound travel sector.
The club was formed as a way of making "a
common voice in the travel industry," stated VITO’s Vice
President and Asian Trail’s Director, Bui Viet Thuy Tien.
As the issue of Vietnam’s rising
hotel room rates has continued to be a problem for tour operators,
the VITO club will aim to resolve the issue.
The group will also communicate with one
another on issues affecting the travel sector, carry out research
and implement schemes with local authorities.
During this year, representatives from
hotels and international tour operators met to discuss rising room
rates. Following the discussion, several hotels consented to
maintain a constant contract price.
The club is also inviting other local and
international tour operators to become members of VITO.
In November this year, the Ho Chi Minh
City (HCMC) Tourism Association established the HCMC Society of
Travel Agents and already has 70 local travel companies and other
related businesses as members. The group hopes to create new
products to attract tourists and create tour guide training
programs.
